Main Purpose of the Role
Applicants must meet the occupational requirement of agreeing with and actively supporting the ethos and mission of the Adam Outreach Project.
The primary purpose of this role is to work in alignment with the organisation’s Christian values, beliefs, and mission, supporting residents to move towards fulfilled, stable, and independent lives through high-quality, person-centred care and support.
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, holistic support while contributing to a motivated, skilled, and caring staff team.
Key Responsibilities

- Encourage and support residents to achieve their ambitions through high-quality, person-centred care and support plans.
- Promote residents’ wellbeing, independence, and recovery through practical, emotional, and spiritual support.
- Contribute to the development of a motivated, compassionate, and skilled staff team.
- Learn, uphold, and follow all organisational policies, procedures, and safeguarding standards.

Person SpecificationEssential Experience and Skills
- Understanding of the needs of people in crisis, responding with care, sensitivity, and professionalism.
- Knowledge of issues surrounding homelessness, addiction, and mental health.
- Experience supporting vulnerable adults (e.g. those with addictions or mental health needs) is advantageous.
- Ability to carry out risk and needs assessments and support individuals displaying challenging behaviours or personality disorders.
- Proven experience working within a team to achieve positive outcomes, with effective planning and prioritisation skills.
- Experience managing a caseload and creating, implementing, and reviewing tailored support plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work on your own initiative and positively influence others.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
- Health & Safety and/or First Aid training.
- ICT skills, including MS Office.
- Care Certificate (or willingness to undertake training).
- Health and Social Care Level 2–3 (training can be provided).

- Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, night shifts, sleep-ins, and cover shifts.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow instructions from the Manager or senior staff regarding care delivery and specific tasks.
- Carry out regular wellbeing checks while respecting residents’ dignity and privacy.
- Conduct building checks for fire prevention and health & safety compliance.
- Respond to resident calls and emergencies in line with lone-working procedures, contacting appropriate services when required.
- Support residents to attend group meetings, fellowship activities, recovery programmes, and mutual aid groups (AA/NA/CA).
- Undertake domestic duties as directed, maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection control.
- Participate in training and development, learning to:
- Set goals with residents and document progress
- Carry out key-working (one-to-one) sessions
- Complete accurate handover notes
- Conduct drug and alcohol testing where required
- Encourage residents to socialise, engage in activities, and remain motivated in their recovery journey.
- Remain vigilant and immediately report any safeguarding concerns, including physical, emotional, sexual, financial, neglectful, or institutional abuse.
- Participate in staff handovers, team meetings, supervision sessions, and appraisals.
- Support residents with household tasks and personal responsibilities, promoting independence where appropriate.

Contractual Information
This position is offered on a zero-hours contract, in accordance with current UK employment legislation. Working hours will vary depending on the needs of the organisation, and there is no guarantee of minimum hours. Individuals are free to accept or decline shifts offered.
Safeguarding
This role involves working with vulnerable adults. Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for regulated activities.
