The Role
As a Projects Engineer, you will plan and deliver IT infrastructure projects that help our clients improve, modernise and secure their environments.
You will work across Microsoft 365, Azure, servers, networking and security technologies, delivering projects from implementation through to completion. Alongside project work, you will provide support and expertise for complex escalated issues from the Service Desk when required.
This is a hands-on technical role for someone who enjoys implementing solutions, solving problems and working directly with customers.
Key Responsibilities
· Deliver IT infrastructure projects, including Microsoft 365 migrations and deployments, Azure implementations, server installations and upgrades, network and wireless deployments, firewall configuration, and security improvements.
· Install, configure, migrate and maintain customer systems in line with company standards and good practice.
· Manage project tasks effectively, ensuring work is completed on time and communicated clearly to customers and colleagues.
· Provide support and expertise for complex escalated issues from the Service Desk
· Carry out technical changes in live customer environments while minimising disruption.
· Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including implementation notes, diagrams and handover information.
· Identify opportunities to improve the performance, security and resilience of customer environments.
· Attend site visits when required.
· Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and continuous service improvement.
· Keep up to date with emerging technologies, security threats and industry developments.
Skills and Experience
Essential
· Advanced Microsoft 365 administration and support experience.
· Previous experience in an IT engineering
· Experience working with and implementing Windows Server environments
· Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing and firewalls.
· Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
· Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
· Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
· Experience within a Managed Service Provider environment.
· Previous experience in infrastructure or projects-focused role.
· Advanced networking including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing and firewalls.
· Experience implementing or supporting Azure services.
· Microsoft or Azure certifications.
· VoIP system experience.
· Experience delivering infrastructure migration projects.
· Relevant IT qualifications or certifications.
