As cities continue to shape the health and wellbeing of populations worldwide, the Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI) at Imperial College London is seeking an exceptional and influential leader to become the inaugural Director (Centre Lead) for the Centre for Urban Health and Healthcare (CUHH).
The Centre is an exciting new initiative, developed in partnership with the Mayor of London, with an ambitious vision to become a globally recognised and financially sustainable centre of excellence for urban health research, policy and innovation
As Director (Centre Lead), you will provide strategic leadership for the Centre, defining its vision, driving its growth and establishing it as a leading voice in urban health policy and practice, serving as a prominent ambassador for urban health, fostering collaborations across academia, government, health systems, international organisations, city leadership networks and the wider healthcare sector.
Working closely with IGHI senior leadership and external partners, you will develop and deliver an ambitious programme of policy, research and innovation activities focused on key areas including:
- Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
- Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
- Leadership Development
- Urban Health Systems and Policy
You will draw upon your extensive policy expertise, networks and experience to develop new partnerships, secure funding, influence policy agendas and translate evidence into real-world impact.
We are seeking an ambitious and influential leader with significant experience in health policy, urban health, public health or healthcare systems, and a strong track record of delivering impact through policy, partnership development and stakeholder engagement.

The successful candidate will have:
- Substantial senior leadership experience within health policy, healthcare, public health, academia or a related field.
- Proven success in influencing policy and driving change at local, national and/or international levels.
- Strong networks across government, city leadership, healthcare organisations, academia and funding bodies.
- Experience working with city governments, international organisations, or in areas such as urban health, antimicrobial resistance, non-communicable diseases or global health policy would be advantageous.

This is a part-time post (7 hours per week).
This role is for a fixed-term contract for 12 months.
