About Quickslide
Over the last 20 years, Quickslide has grown into one of the UK's leading manufacturers of windows and doors. From our base in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, thousands of products leave our factory every week on our fleet of 11 HGVs. Manufacturing them is only half the job. Making sure they arrive safely, on time and in the same condition they left us is just as important.
Behind every successful delivery is a team that plans, loads, transports and unloads our products with care. It's an operation where every decision has an impact on our customers, our people and our reputation.
We're looking for a Transport & Loading Manager to lead that operation; developing people, improving performance and making sure every delivery reflects the standards we're proud to put the Quickslide name to.
The Role
Reporting to our Commercial Director, you'll lead our Transport Planning, Loading and Driver teams, making sure every product leaves our site safely, efficiently and ready to meet the high standards our customers have come to expect from Quickslide.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to manage from behind a desk. We're looking for a visible leader who enjoys being out in the operation, getting to know the people, understanding the challenges and rolling up their sleeves to make things better.
At the same time, this role is about much more than managing vehicles and planning routes. It combines operational leadership with commercial thinking, using data, systems and experience to make better decisions for our customers, our people and the wider business. You'll use performance data, KPIs and operational insight to identify opportunities, solve root causes and build an operation that's stronger tomorrow than it is today.
What You’ll Be Doing
This is a role that balances today's priorities with tomorrow's opportunities. You'll lead the day-to-day operation while continually looking for ways to improve how we work, develop your team and strengthen the service we provide.
You’ll:
· Lead our Transport Planning, Loading and Driver teams, creating a positive, accountable culture where people can perform at their best.
· Deliver a safe, efficient and reliable operation, making sure our products reach customers on time and in full.
· Work closely with Production, Customer Service, Sales and Commercial teams to improve communication and keep products moving through the business.
· Use data, KPIs and operational insight to identify trends, tackle root causes and make informed decisions.
· Drive continuous improvement across Transport & Logistics, embedding changes that deliver long-term benefits rather than short-term fixes.
· Maintain high standards of safety, compliance and customer service across every part of the operation.
· Review fleet performance, vehicle utilisation and operating costs, helping shape the future of our fleet strategy.
· Develop your team through regular coaching, feedback and clear expectations, creating an environment where people can grow and take ownership.
· Look for smarter ways of working, challenging existing processes and helping build an operation that's ready for the future.
What We’re Looking For
We're looking for an experienced operational leader who enjoys developing people, improving performance and finding better ways of working. You'll be just as comfortable building relationships with drivers and loaders as you are analysing performance data or presenting ideas to senior management.
You’ll bring:
· Experience leading transport, logistics or operational teams within manufacturing, distribution or a similar fast-paced environment.
· Strong people management skills, with the ability to coach, support and challenge your team to achieve their best.
· A good understanding of HGV transport operations, compliance and Health & Safety.
· The ability to use data, KPIs and operational insight to make informed decisions and drive meaningful improvements.
· A practical approach to problem solving, always looking beyond the immediate issue to find the root cause.
· Commercial awareness and experience managing budgets, resources and operational costs.
· Confidence working across departments, building relationships and bringing people together to solve problems.
· A hands-on approach, with the ability to balance today's priorities while planning for tomorrow.
Experience managing loading operations, fleet strategy or transport technology would be an advantage, but most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to leave the operation in a better place than they found it.
Your First 90 Days
Your first few months will be about understanding the operation, getting to know the people and identifying where you can make the biggest difference. We don't expect you to have all the answers on day one, but we do expect you to ask questions, build strong relationships and start making a positive impact.
You’ll:
· Get to know your team including our drivers and loaders, understanding what works well and where improvements can be made.
· Build strong relationships across Production, Customer Service, Commercial and the wider business.
· Understand our current performance, KPIs and operational challenges.
· Spend time with the people behind the operation, listening to their ideas and challenges, and understanding the day-to-day realities.
· Identify quick wins alongside long-term opportunities to improve safety, service and efficiency.
· Set clear expectations, support your team and create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
· Begin delivering meaningful improvements that strengthen the operation for the future.
How Success is Measured
You'll be successful in this role if you're naturally curious. You enjoy asking why, challenging existing ways of working and finding practical solutions that make a real difference.
That means building a team that takes ownership, improving the way we work, making better use of data and creating an operation that consistently delivers for our customers.
Alongside that, you'll be measured against key operational performance including:
· OTIF (On Time In Full) performance.
· Fleet utilisation and transport efficiency.
· Safety and compliance.
· Team engagement and development.
· Continuous improvement.
We're looking for someone who'll lead by example, challenge the norm and continue to develop our Transport & Logistics operation.
If you're ready to make an impact and help shape the future of how we deliver for our customers, we'd love to hear from you.
