Overview
We are seeking a skilled HGV Welder Body Repair Person to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing and maintaining heavy goods vehicle bodies, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude and experience in welding and body repairs within the commercial vehicle sector.
Duties
- Conduct welding repairs on HGV bodies using appropriate techniques and tools
- Assess damage and determine suitable repair methods in accordance with company standards
- Use hand tools and power tools to remove, replace, or repair damaged panels and components
- Perform heavy lifting of vehicle parts or body panels safely and efficiently
- Prepare surfaces for welding, including cleaning and grinding as necessary
- Ensure all repairs comply with relevant safety regulations and quality specifications
- Maintain accurate records of repairs carried out and parts used
- Assist in routine maintenance tasks on vehicles as required
Requirements
- Proven experience in welding, particularly within heavy goods vehicle or similar heavy vehicle repair environments
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle structures and bodywork components
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in body repair work
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively
- Attention to detail to ensure high-quality repairs that meet safety standards
- Good organisational skills with the ability to follow technical instructions precisely
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in welding or body repair are desirable but not essential
- Physical fitness to work in demanding environments and handle heavy materials
