We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team and provide tailored care to two individuals living in their own homes — a gentleman with learning disabilities and a lady with Huntington’s disease.
About the Role:
You will provide person-centred care, focusing on independence, dignity, and quality of life. Each care package is unique, and your role will involve adapting your support to meet the specific needs of both individuals:
- For the gentleman with learning disabilities:
You will assist with daily living activities, encourage independence, and support community activities that promote confidence and life skills.
- For the lady with Huntington’s disease:
You will provide compassionate and practical support, assist with mobility and personal care, and help her access the community to enjoy meaningful activities and social opportunities.
Shifts:
- 12-hour shifts: 8am – 8pm (day shifts)
- Waking nights: 8pm – 8am
Your Responsibilities:
- Support independence in daily tasks at home and in the community.
- Provide respectful and sensitive personal care when required.
- Assist with household tasks, meal preparation, and general organisation.
- Encourage engagement in activities, both in the home and the community.
- Adapt to changing needs, particularly with the progression of Huntington’s disease.
- Use your own vehicle for community outings and appointments (mileage expenses covered).
What we are Looking For:
- Experience in Health and Social Care, particularly with learning disabilities or progressive neurological conditions (e.g., Huntington’s).
- A full, clean driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- A caring, empathetic, and patient approach.
- Flexibility to adapt to different and evolving care needs.
- Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including waking nights.
