Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented Print Production Technician to join our production team. This is a varied hands-on role covering both wide format and digital print production. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will operate a range of print and finishing equipment to produce high-quality products efficiently and consistently. The Production Manager will oversee production planning and scheduling, allowing you to focus on producing exceptional work, maintaining equipment and continually improving quality, efficiency and output.
Duties
- Set up, operate and monitor a range of wide format and digital production printers to produce high-quality printed products.
- Produce a wide variety of work including banners, signage, vehicle graphics, wall coverings, posters, leaflets, brochures, business cards, booklets, stickers, labels, NCR sets and promotional materials.
- Work collaboratively with the Production Manager, studio team and customer service staff to ensure jobs are produced efficiently and any artwork or production issues are identified before manufacture.
- Take ownership of assigned print and finishing equipment, ensuring machines are maintained, cleaned and operating at peak performance.
- Perform colour calibration, profiling and test prints to maintain colour consistency across all print devices.
- Safely handle paper stocks, vinyls, rigid substrates, textiles and other print media
- Record production times, material usage, waste and machine performance accurately within the company's production systems to support production reporting and continuous improvement.
- Work to production schedules set by the Production Manager, ensuring work is completed on time without compromising quality.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating digital and/or wide format printing equipment within a commercial print environment.
- Proficiency with RIP software and a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong understanding of colour management, print processes and different substrate types.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to consistent quality
- Good communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving attitude
- Physically capable of handling paper stocks, media rolls and finished products safely.
- Able to work independently while contributing positively as part of a production team.
Desirable
- Experience operating digital production presses
- Experience with wide format printers, cutters and laminators.
- Experience with booklet makers, folders, creasers, guillotines and other print finishing equipment.
- Experience using print MIS or production management systems.
- Familiarity with a wide range of media including rigid substrates, textiles, and specialist films
- Understanding of prepress, imposition and file preparation beyond basic RIP operation.
- Experience within a commercial print, signage or visual communications environment.
