Overview
We are seeking an experienced Class 1 HGV Trunk Driver to join our Transport team based in Wakefield. This role involves trunking operations between our Head Office in Wakefield and our nationwide depots. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and timely movement of goods between sites while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and compliance. Upon arrival at the depots, drivers will assist with loading depot delivery vehicles and supporting warehouse operations. Drivers will also be required to operate a Forklift Truck (FLT) as part of the role. Full FLT training will be provided to the successful candidate if required.

Responsibilities
- Operate Class 1 articulated vehicles safely and efficiently between Wakefield and the depots.
- Work as part of a double-manned driving team to ensure smooth and efficient trunking operations.
- Ensure all loads are transported securely and arrive in good condition.
- Assist with loading and preparing depot delivery vehicles upon arrival at the depots.
- Support warehouse operations when required, including loading and unloading products.
- Operate a Forklift Truck (FLT) safely and efficiently following company training and procedures.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
- Maintain accurate transport documentation and records.
- Demonstrate good communication and working practices with colleagues at both sites.
- Maintain an effective and safe operational environment.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety policies and Safe Systems of Work.
- Adhere to all Driver Hours, Tachograph, and Working Time Directive regulations.
- Maintain a professional, efficient, and customer-focused approach at all times.
- Ensure vehicles and work areas are kept clean, tidy, and presentable.
- Fully comply with all transport legislation and company procedures.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Valid Class 1 (Category C+E) Driving Licence.
- Driver CPC Qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
- Minimum 2 years' Class 1 driving experience.
- Good understanding of Driver Hours, Tachograph Regulations, and the Working Time Directive.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a two-person driving team.
- Good understanding of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Ability to follow work procedures and safety regulations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexible, reliable, and professional approach to work.
- Willingness to undertake Forklift Truck (FLT) training and operate FLT equipment as part of the role.
Desirable:
- Previous trunking experience.
- Previous FLT experience or FLT certification.
- Experience working within a fast-paced distribution or warehouse environment.
- Loading and unloading experience within a transport or logistics operation.
Pay: £16.75 per hour
Expected hours: 50.0 per week
