Job Summary
Motormedic Test Centre Ltd is looking for an experienced MOT Tester and Vehicle Mechanic to join our garage in Haverhill.
The role will involve carrying out Class 4 MOT tests, servicing, diagnostics, repairs and general mechanical work on customer vehicles. The successful candidate will help ensure vehicles are inspected, repaired and completed to a high professional standard, while maintaining excellent customer service and workshop standards.
Main responsibilities include:
- Carrying out MOT tests in line with DVSA requirements
- Vehicle servicing, inspections and repairs
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Brakes, suspension, exhausts, tyres, batteries and general repair work
- Completing job cards and inspection records accurately
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop
- Advising management of additional work required on vehicles
- Following health and safety procedures at all times
Skills needed
The ideal candidate should have:
- Valid MOT Tester qualification for Class 4 vehicles
- Previous experience as a mechanic or vehicle technician
- Good knowledge of vehicle servicing, diagnostics and repairs
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good attention to detail and professional workmanship
- Ability to complete paperwork and job records accurately
- Good communication skills with customers and colleagues
- Full UK driving licence preferred
- Level 2 or Level 3 vehicle maintenance qualification preferred, but experience will also be considered.
Experience
- Proven experience as a vehicle mechanic or MOT tester is preferred but not essential; training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose faults efficiently.
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in automotive repair work.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively during repair procedures.
- Knowledge of current MOT testing procedures and vehicle safety standards is advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure quality workmanship.

Pay: £26,306.47-£34,000.00 per year
