Classroom Support Assistant – Mainstream Primary School, Southampton
The Supply Room are seeking a dedicated Classroom Support Assistant to join an inclusive and proactive mainstream primary school in Southampton. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a warm, supportive school community that is committed to helping every child reach their full potential.
This role is for a September Start and will run for the full academic year, September 2026 – July 2027. The school is looking for someone who is responsible, punctual, reliable, and genuinely passionate about supporting children with their education and wider development.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Support the class teacher with prepping lesson resources, assisting during lesson time, and keeping the classroom organised and ready for learning.
- Provide support in 1:1 and small group work sessions, offering tailored assistance for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Encourage positive behaviour and help students build confidence, resilience, and independence in their learning.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with children and staff to help pupils feel safe, valued, and motivated throughout the school day.
- Assist with monitoring pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher to help shape future lesson planning.
- Support with break and lunchtime supervision where required, ensuring pupil wellbeing and safety at all times.
- Act as a positive role model, promoting the school's values and fostering an inclusive learning environment for all children.
