Job Summary
As a Hygiene Supervisor, you will take day-to-day responsibility for supervising the hygiene team, maintaining a clean and compliant production environment, and supporting continuous improvement in hygiene practices. This is a hands-on role that requires strong attention to detail, and a deep understanding of hygiene and sanitation standards in food manufacturing.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage and allocate daily / weekly and monthly cleaning tasks.
- Monitor cleaning standards and complete hygiene inspections.
- Ensure cleaning schedules and records are completed correctly.
- Control the safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Train and supervise hygiene staff.
- Report and resolve hygiene issues.
- Support HACCP, BRCGS, audits and food safety requirements.
- Work closely with Production and Quality teams to maintain high hygiene standards.
- Ensure compliance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) requirements.
- Ensure cleaning chemicals are correctly labelled, stored and used safely.
- Maintain and review COSHH assessments and ensure staff are trained in chemical handling.
- Conduct regular inspections and internal audits to monitor cleanliness and compliance, and drive improvements where needed.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to hygiene-related issues, including contamination risks, managing corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage stock of hygiene supplies and equipment, ensuring efficient use of resources and readiness for all hygiene operations.
- Control the safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous supervisory experience in a hygiene or sanitation role, in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Understands HACCP, food safety regulations, COSHH, and cleaning validation.
- Has good communication skills with the ability to train, guide, and inspire a team.
- Is detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to maintaining high hygiene standards.
- Is comfortable working cross-functionally and responding effectively to incidents or audits.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £14.00-£15.00 per hour
