Overview
Alpha Community Action Group SCIO is a community‑driven charity committed to protecting and enhancing local environments across Denny and the wider Falkirk area. Our environmental purpose extends beyond litter reduction and includes stewardship of green spaces, community education, environmental awareness, and support for local sustainability initiatives. We are seeking dedicated Environmental Volunteers to contribute to our ongoing environmental programmes and help strengthen community pride in shared public spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Environmental stewardship — supporting the care, maintenance, and improvement of parks, pathways, and natural areas across the community
- Litter reduction activities — participating in clean‑ups at various locations as part of wider environmental efforts
- Support for environmental projects — assisting with initiatives such as tree planting, small habitat improvements, awareness campaigns, and sustainability events
- Community engagement — promoting environmental responsibility and interacting positively with members of the public
- Team collaboration — working alongside fellow volunteers and project leads to deliver community‑focused outcomes
- Safety and compliance — following guidance, using equipment responsibly, and maintaining safe working practices
- Issue reporting — identifying environmental concerns, hazards, or maintenance needs and communicating them appropriately

- Environmental awareness and commitment to protecting green spaces
- Teamwork and the ability to collaborate effectively - Communication with volunteers, project leads, and the public
- Physical activity — comfortable with light outdoor tasks such as walking, bending, and lifting small items
- Attention to detail when identifying litter, hazards, or environmental issues
- Reliability and willingness to support activities when available
- Problem‑solving in identifying and communicating environmental concerns
- Safety awareness and adherence to guidance
- Community engagement and respect for shared public spaces.
