Applicants who do not meet the essential criteria will be considered under the Annex 21 training programme, where whilst undergoing training, they will be paid a 75% of the top of Band 6 and on completion of training will then move on to Band 6 scale.

The Role
A Specialist clinical practitioner provides care, expert advice and support, whilst providing expert surgical first assistance and professional clinical leadership within the perioperative environment and supporting the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of patient care. The post holder will assist the operating surgeon during surgical procedures, maintain high standards of clinical practice, and lead the theatre team to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient outcomes.
As a nurse specialist, the role includes responsibility for staff supervision, education and development, stock and equipment management, service improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with organisational, professional, and regulatory standards and will act as a role model, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, continuous learning, and excellence in patient care whilst operating within a defined specialism across NHS Lanarkshire.
In this key role, you will:

To support and manage nursing staff within the Perioperative area ensuring that patient needs are assessed, care planned, implemented and evaluated, and that there is consultation and involvement of patient/carers.

Contribute, as part of the multidisciplinary team, to the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the Department, Directorate and Division to ensure adherence to, and delivery of the highest level of patient care at all times.
- Be fully conversant with the NMC/HPC & AODP Codes of Professional Conduct and other relevant documents, which support and maintain standards of professional practice for nurses, midwives and operating department practitioners

Responsible for ensuring the quality of patient care is assessed and implemented to ensure maintenance of standards of care given to patients and their families by leading and participating in clinical audit.
What You'll Bring:

Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
- Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
- Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.

A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
