SBT Skip Hire is an established Leeds-based waste and recycling company providing skip and RoRo services to commercial and domestic customers across Leeds and the surrounding areas.
Following a change of ownership and continued investment in the business, we are looking for an experienced HGV Class 2 Skip Driver to join our team.
The Role
The role will primarily involve driving a skip wagon, delivering and collecting skips from commercial and domestic customers throughout our operating area.
There may also be opportunities to cover RoRo work from time to time, depending on experience and operational requirements.
We are looking for someone who is experienced, reliable and professional, with a good understanding of operating HGV vehicles safely in a variety of environments.
The role will include Saturday morning working on a rota as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and collect skips from commercial and domestic customers
- Safely operate HGV Class 2 skip vehicles
- Position and collect skips safely, including on restricted or challenging sites
- Cover RoRo work when required and where suitably experienced
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects correctly
- Ensure skips, containers and loads are handled and secured safely
- Complete relevant paperwork and collection/delivery information accurately
- Comply with drivers' hours, tachograph, road transport and health & safety requirements
- Communicate effectively with the transport office, customers and site staff
- Keep your vehicle clean, tidy and well presented
- Provide a professional and helpful service to customers
What We're Looking For
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
- Valid Driver CPC
- Previous skip wagon experience strongly preferred
- RoRo experience would be an advantage but is not essential
- Good understanding of drivers' hours, tachograph and vehicle compliance
- Confident manoeuvring an HGV in tight residential and commercial locations
- Good awareness of site safety and safe skip placement
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Flexible attitude and willingness to help the wider team when required
