Company Overview – Fire Protection Estimator / Projects Coordinator
Our Client is a well-established provider of Fire Protection Solutions across Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas. Working with a diverse range of clients, including Principal M&E Contractors, Housing Associations, Local Authorities and Facilities Management companies, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality fire protection services.
Due to continued growth and the upcoming departure of a long-standing member of the office team, our Client is looking for a Fire Protection Estimator / Projects Coordinator to join the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fire Engineer who is looking to move away from a predominantly field-based position and into an office-based role, utilising their technical knowledge and industry experience. Previous estimating or quoting experience is not essential, as full training will be provided to the right candidate.
The successful candidate will initially focus on producing quotations following engineer site visits, before developing their knowledge and taking on larger installation quotations and tender opportunities.
Fire Protection Estimator / Projects Coordinator – Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate quotations following engineer site visits, inspections and service works
- Review engineer reports and recommendations to determine the scope of remedial and additional works required
- Produce quotations for fire protection installation works based on enquiries received from new and existing clients
- Assist with larger installation quotations and tender submissions as experience develops
- Review drawings, specifications and project requirements to support accurate pricing
- Liaise with engineers, clients, suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the information required to prepare quotations
- Assist the Projects Team with organising materials, equipment and subcontractor labour requirements
- Support the planning and coordination of subcontractor labour and project resources
- Attend client sites when required to carry out surveys, gather information and assess project requirements
- Develop a strong understanding of the company's services, systems and pricing structure
- Maintain accurate records of quotations, enquiries and project information
- Follow up quotations and assist with converting opportunities into confirmed works
- Work closely with the wider team to ensure projects are properly scoped and resourced
- Identify opportunities for additional works and services following engineer visits
- Ensure quotations are accurate, commercially viable and aligned with client requirements
- Progressively take on more complex estimating and tendering responsibilities with internal training and support
Fire Protection Estimator / Projects Coordinator – Key Requirements
- Previous experience within the fire protection or fire safety industry is highly desirable
- Ideally an experienced Fire Engineer looking to move into an office-based position
- Strong understanding of fire protection systems, installations and associated services
- Previous estimating or quoting experience would be advantageous but is not essential
- Ability to understand engineer reports and translate technical requirements into accurate quotations
- Comfortable reviewing drawings, specifications and project requirements
- Good numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to liaise confidently with engineers, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple quotations and enquiries
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of costs, labour and materials
- Willingness to learn and develop into a more technically focused estimating position
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently while supporting the wider team
- Full UK driving licence
Previous estimating experience is not essential. Our Client is open to candidates with strong fire industry knowledge, particularly engineers who are looking to transition into an office-based role and develop their career within estimating and project support.
