Commercial Consultant (Construction / Mechanical)

We are looking for you to invoice for your services, based on an hourly rate situ. We anticipate your fee's to be £45-50ph, paying you self employed and/or LTD.
Jefferis Engineering is seeking an experienced Commercial Consultant to provide specialist commercial and contractual support on a live mechanical engineering project.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial professional with a strong background in mechanical engineering, building services, or construction to work alongside our team on an initial consultancy assignment, with the potential for ongoing work as our business continues to grow.
About Us:
Jefferis Engineering is a specialist mechanical subcontractor delivering high-quality pipework fabrication, mechanical installation, and building services solutions across commercial and industrial projects throughout the UK. We predominantly work with Tier 1 main contractors on complex construction projects.
The Role:
You will be responsible for reviewing the project's commercial and contractual position, assessing entitlement relating to delays, disruption, variations, and change, and providing expert support during commercial negotiations with the main contractor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review contract documentation and advise on commercial strategy.
- Assess entitlement relating to variations, delays, disruption, and extensions of time (EOTs).
- Support the preparation and negotiation of final accounts.
- Provide commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with negotiations and dispute avoidance with the main contractor.
- Produce clear, commercially focused reports and recommendations.
About You:
We're looking for a consultant with proven experience in:
- Mechanical engineering, pipework, or building services projects. (ideally pipework)
- Commercial management within the construction industry.
- Variations, change management, delays, disruption, and EOT claims.
- Final account negotiations.
- Working within Tier 1 contractor and specialist subcontractor environments.
- Strong contractual knowledge (NEC and/or JCT experience would be advantageous).
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
