Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient FOH (Front of House) Team Member to join our vibrant hospitality team in our city centre Japanese Restaurant. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be the face of our establishment, delivering exceptional customer service in a lively dining environment. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food, excellent communication skills, and a keen eye for detail. Previous restaurant experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. This position is paid and suitable for individuals eager to develop their skills within the hospitality industry.
Duties
- Greet guests warmly and ensure they feel welcome upon arrival
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, providing menu recommendations when appropriate
- Serve food and beverages in a professional and timely manner
- Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene
- Upsell menu items to enhance guest experience and maximise sales opportunities
- Maintain cleanliness of the dining area, including clearing tables and resetting for new guests
- Handle payments accurately using the POS system and provide correct change
- Ensure all health and safety regulations are adhered to at all times
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow during busy periods
- Manage time effectively to serve multiple tables while maintaining quality service
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is a plus
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and cash management
- Strong organisational skills with excellent time management abilities
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours
- Friendly, approachable manner with excellent communication skills
- Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as required
- A positive attitude and team-oriented approach are essential for success in this role
