Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. The Finance Assistant will support the day-to-day financial operations of The Liberty Church (TLC), keeping accurate financial records and following established financial policies. This role involves processing transactions, maintaining the accounts, and contributing to the smooth financial administration of the church's mission and goals.
An understanding of and alignment with The Liberty Church's Christian ethos and values is essential. Familiarity with TLC and its ministry would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- 1. Financial Operations and Governance Support: ● Assist in day-to-day financial activities, including processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and supporting payroll administration. ● Ensure timely and accurate processing of financial transactions. ● Support the implementation of financial policies and procedures to enhance financial governance and efficiency.
- 2. Accounting and Bookkeeping: ● Perform accurate bookkeeping, including processing receipts, managing financial records, and maintaining accounting systems. ● Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements. ● Assist with the preparation of monthly income and expenditure accounts. ● Maintain accurate general ledger records.
- 3. Reporting and Compliance Support: ● Support the preparation of financial statements and reports for leadership and trustees. ● Assist in the preparation of information for external accountants and auditors for annual reports, ensuring compliance with Charity Commission and Companies House requirements. ● Provide supporting records and information requested by the finance team during year-end and audit processes.
- 4. Support for Teams and Ministries: ● Provide basic financial guidance and support to the ministry and team leads regarding expenditure and financial processes. ● Assist in communicating financial policies and best practices to teams.
Requirements
- The right to work in the UK
- Finance related degree or AAT qualification (or working towards), or equivalent bookkeeping experience.
- Minimum of 1 - 2 years in a bookkeeping or finance administration role.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Pay: £25,420.00-£28,000.00 per year
