Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking an enthusiastic, customer-focused and highly organised Hospitality Operations Co-ordinator to help deliver exceptional hospitality experiences across our vibrant city-centre campus.
Reporting to the Hospitality & Events Duty Manager, you will play a key role in coordinating and delivering a diverse range of hospitality services, including conferences, VIP events, corporate meetings, university ceremonies and special functions. This is a hands-on operational role where no two days are the same.
You'll lead from the front, ensuring every event is delivered to the highest standards while providing excellent customer service, supervising hospitality teams, managing resources and contributing to the continued success and growth of our hospitality operation.
As Hospitality Operations Co-ordinator, you will:
- Coordinate and deliver hospitality services for meetings, conferences, ceremonies and events across the University.
- Act as the on-site operational lead, ensuring smooth and professional event delivery.
- Supervise hospitality staff and provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and support.
- Manage hospitality bookings through our online booking system.
- Work closely with chefs, managers and event organisers to ensure all customer requirements are met.
- Drive sales through effective upselling and promotion of hospitality products and services.
- Create staff rotas and allocate resources to meet operational needs.
- Monitor stock, ordering, wastage and operational costs.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, allergen management, health and safety and university procedures.
- Gather customer feedback and identify opportunities for service improvement.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and training of hospitality team members.
We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and enjoys leading teams to deliver outstanding customer experiences.
You will have:
- Experience supervising staff within a customer-facing environment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Experience working in a busy hospitality, catering or events setting.
- The ability to lead by example and motivate a diverse team.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety practices and service standards.
- A proactive, flexible and positive approach to work.
- A Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate, or willingness to obtain one within three months.
- Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required.
- A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Experience using hospitality booking systems, EPOS tills or stock management systems.
- Experience driving revenue through upselling and promotional activity.
- Customer care training.
- Manual handling training.
- A supervisory or management qualification within hospitality, catering or a related discipline.

This role requires flexibility to support hospitality and events operations, including occasional evening and weekend working. You may also be required to work across different Manchester Metropolitan University locations.
