Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager for our Children Residential Care Home. The successful candidate will play a vital leadership role in supporting the management team, supervising care staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care tailored to the needs of children and young people. Responsibilities
- Assist the Registered Manager in overseeing daily operations within the residential care home, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
- Support the development and implementation of individual care plans that promote emotional well-being, independence, and life skills for children and young people.
- Supervise, mentor, and motivate care staff to deliver compassionate, professional support aligned with best practices in child care.
- Ensure effective safeguarding procedures are followed at all times to protect vulnerable children from harm.
- Contribute to staff training, appraisals, and ongoing professional development initiatives.
- Monitor the quality of care provided through regular audits, observations, and feedback mechanisms.
- Assist in managing administrative tasks such as rotas, record keeping, and reporting to senior management.
Experience
- Proven experience working within assisted living or residential care settings for children or young people.
- Demonstrable supervisory or management experience within a care home environment.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, child protection policies, and relevant legislation governing residential childcare.
- Experience in developing and reviewing care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and health & safety standards in a care setting.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire team cohesion and maintain high standards of care.
- Previous involvement in training or supervising staff members is highly desirable.
