Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and organised Trade Counter Assistant to join our team at Joseph parrs builders merchant. This role involves providing excellent customer service, assisting with product sales, and supporting daily operations at our trade counter. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate a proactive attitude towards upselling and merchandising.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their enquiries at the trade counter
- Process sales transactions accurately
- Provide product information and recommend suitable solutions based on customer needs
- Upsell additional products or services to maximise sales opportunities
- Maintain an organised and well-stocked merchandise display, ensuring products are presented attractively
- Handle phone enquiries professionally, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette
- Manage stock levels and assist with inventory control procedures
- Support the team with general administrative tasks as required
- Ensure the trade counter area remains clean, tidy, and welcoming for customers
Experience
- Previous experience in the building industry, merchandising, or customer service is advantageous.
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions and stock counts
- Organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently and prioritise effectively
- Good time management to ensure prompt service during busy periods
- Ability to demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when dealing with customer calls
- Experience in upselling or promoting products is a plus but not mandatory
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday - 8am - 5pm
Friday - 8am - 4.30pm
Saturday- 8am - 12pm
Pay: £24,420.00-£32,000.00 per year
