About the role:
justteachers are recruiting for a dedicated Specialist Support Assistant to join a well-established specialist education setting in Cambridge. This full-time role is available immediately and offers an excellent opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional needs within a structured, supportive environment.
As a Specialist Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to provide tailored support to pupils, helping them to access learning, develop essential life skills, and achieve their individual goals. This role is ideal for someone with strong SEN experience who is passionate about making a meaningful difference.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN, including ASD, SEMH, and communication needs
Deliver targeted interventions and structured learning activities
Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies
Adapt resources and approaches to meet a range of learning needs
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
Support the development of communication, independence, and social skills
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider staff teams
Monitor and report on pupil progress and engagement
Pre-requisites:
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
Strong understanding of supporting pupils with additional needs (e.g., autism, SEMH, complex needs)
A patient, consistent, and nurturing approach
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
A proactive and adaptable attitude
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Pay: £98.00-£115.00 per day
