Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team, working a 3-shift pattern. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving mechanical systems across our manufacturing and operational facilities. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of machinery and equipment.

Experience within the food and drink industry, preferably small pack (bottling/canning) and understanding of BRC practices is desirable.
Experience using a lathe and fabrication skills involving TIG & Stick welding will be a distinct advantage.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive root cause analysis to identify underlying issues affecting machinery performance and implement effective corrective actions.
- Respond quickly to plant equipment failures and diagnose faults to reduce production downtime.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance.
- Working with a wide range of pneumatic (valve & cylinders) and hydraulic systems.
- Maintenance on water treatment plants (RO, DAL & Soft Water)
- Install, test and commission new mechanical equipment.
- Annual strip down and inspection on our gas-powered steam boiler (8 bar steam pressure)
- Develop and review schematics, technical drawings.
- Overhaul & maintain various types of pumps & gearboxes.
- Small pack production maintenance cover (bottling & can line) these both contain automatic De-Palletiser & Palletiser, Tunnel pasteurisers and automated packing machines.
- Program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to automate machinery operations and improve system efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations.
- Follow site safety rules, manage permits to work and work safely with contractors.
- Accurately log maintenance activities and update job progress.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in mechanical maintenance or engineering roles within industrial or manufacturing environments.
- NVQ Level 3 or higher in mechanical engineering, plant maintenance or an equivalent relevant qualification
- Strong mechanical knowledge with a can-do attitude.
- The ability to read and understand pneumatic/hydraulic schematics.
- An understanding of electrical systems would be a distinct advantage.
