We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Waking Night Residential Support Worker to join our team and help create a stable, supportive environment where children can thrive.
The Role
As a Waking Night Residential Support Worker, you will remain awake throughout your shift, ensuring the safety, welfare and wellbeing of the children in our care. You will provide emotional support when required, complete regular welfare checks and maintain a safe and therapeutic home environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
- Complete regular welfare checks throughout the night.
- Support children who wake during the night with reassurance and care.
- Maintain accurate records, daily logs and incident reports.
- Complete domestic duties including cleaning, laundry and preparing the home for the morning.
- Administer medication where trained and authorised.
- Work in accordance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision and mandatory training.
- Promote positive outcomes and act as a positive role model for children.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working within a children’s residential home.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Full UK Driving Licence (preferred).
