Job Summary
We are looking for a Logistics Account Manager to join our Stoke-on-Trent operations team.
This is a fast-moving role within a live transport office. You will be taking bookings from customers, pricing jobs, finding the right drivers, booking work out through Journease, and keeping customers updated from collection through to delivery.
The role suits someone who is organised, confident on the phone, good with systems and able to stay calm when plans change.
Previous experience in logistics, transport or customer service would be helpful, but it is not essential. We can train the right person if they have the right attitude, common sense and willingness to learn.
About Synergix Sameday Solutions
Synergix Sameday Solutions is a family-run logistics business specialising in same-day courier, road haulage and specialist transport.
We started in 2017 with a phone, a phone book and a clear commitment to do urgent transport properly. Since then, we have grown steadily by focusing on service, speed and doing what we say we will do.
We handle time-critical deliveries for festivals and live events, supply chain partners, breweries and drinks wholesalers, national retail chains, warehousing and cross-dock operations, building materials, high-value freight, ADR movements where required, and much more.
Customers call us when timing matters and failure is not an option.
In 2021, we merged our businesses, and in 2023 we refocused as Synergix Sameday Solutions. We answer the phone 24/7, take ownership of every job, and pride ourselves on being fast, reliable and straight with our customers.
That is why we are trusted by leading businesses across the sectors we operate in.
The Role
You will be part of a live operations team, not a back-office admin role.
Using our transport management system, Journease, you will be responsible for taking bookings, pricing jobs, finding the right drivers, booking work out and keeping customers updated from collection through to delivery.
This is a fast-moving role where no two days are the same. You will need to think clearly, communicate properly and stay calm when plans change.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Receiving and pricing same-day, general haulage and specialist transport jobs by phone, email and online systems
- Entering bookings onto Journease and making sure job details are accurate
- Assigning suitable vehicles and drivers to each job
- Booking drivers out with clear instructions
- Monitoring progress from collection through to delivery
- Route planning efficiently and adapting quickly when circumstances change
- Tracking collections and deliveries against agreed times
- Resolving delays, access problems, collection issues and delivery queries
- Keeping customers updated clearly and professionally throughout
- Building strong working relationships with customers, drivers and colleagues
- Taking ownership of regular customer accounts as you develop in the role
- Supporting compliance with driver hours, working-time rules and accurate paperwork
- Working closely with the wider team to maintain service levels and learn from any issues
What You Will Need
We are more interested in attitude, common sense and potential than a perfect CV.
We can teach the right person about Journease, pricing, same-day transport and how our operation works. What we need is someone who is switched on, reliable and willing to learn.
The essentials are:
- Confident telephone manner
- Good written communication
- Sound numeracy skills
- Good IT skills, including Excel
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to stay organised while handling multiple jobs at once
- Calm approach when things get busy
- Reliability and common sense
- Willingness to take ownership
- Team-working attitude
- Good interpersonal skills
- Flexibility, as same-day logistics moves quickly and plans can change fast
- Basic UK geographical knowledge and an understanding of transport routes
Previous experience in logistics, transport planning, courier operations, customer service, account management or a fast-paced office environment would be helpful, but it is not essential.
Knowledge of driver hours, Working Time Directive rules or transport management systems would also help you stand out, but full training will be provided.
What We Offer
We are a family-owned business, so the right person will not just be a number on a rota.
You will work directly with people who own the business, understand the job and are involved in the day-to-day operation. Good work gets noticed here, and if you are reliable, switched on and willing to learn, there is real room to grow.
We offer:
- Competitive salary, depending on experience and ability
- Monthly profit-share scheme in stronger trading months
- Performance bonus opportunities
- Commission opportunities on new customers you help bring into the business
- Full training on crm, pricing, driver allocation and our internal processes
- Direct support from experienced, hands-on management
- Career progression for the right person
- A stable and growing business with a strong customer base
- A proper role in a live transport office, not a scripted call-centre environment
- Relaxed office dress code
- Free on-site parking
- Cycle to work scheme
- Company events
- Lunch provided on Fridays
The profit-share scheme is linked to business performance, so it will vary month to month. It is not guaranteed, but when the business performs well, the team shares in that success.
The Person We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and wants to be part of a business that is growing.
You do not need to know everything on day one. You do need to be honest, reliable, switched on and willing to learn.
This role may suit someone already working in transport, logistics, customer service, account management, operations, retail management or a busy office environment where communication and problem-solving matter.
How to Apply
Please send your CV and a short message explaining why you think you would be a good fit for the role.
Experience is welcome, but the right attitude, reliability and common sense matter more.
