National Engagement, Participation & Consultation Officer
Grade 11
The 4C’s (Children’s Commissioning Consortium Cymru) has an exciting new career opportunity with the development of the role of National Engagement, Participation and Consultation Officer. The Team provides a national commissioning service to all 22 Welsh local authorities and manages the All-Wales Frameworks for both Independent Fostering and Residential Placements.
You’ll be part of a committed team who are focused on achieving the best outcomes for children and young people. The voice of the child is central to everything we do at the 4Cs, we have the Participation Standards Kitemark and we have a well-established Young Commissioners Programme engaging children who are living with a foster carer or in a children’s home in Wales and whose ages range from 6 years to care leavers.
The Team is hosted by RCTCBC and is based in Unit 5 Merthyr Tydfil; however, remote working is supported. The post will entail travel across Wales, where you will be working directly with children and young people living in various locations.
Applicants will support and enable our Young Commissioners to participate effectively and influence not only the work of the 4Cs but National policy by working with a number of strategic partners. The role requires flexible working, needing to accommodate some evening and weekend working plus during school holidays.
Applicants will be experienced in working with children and young people and will have a proven track record of using participation and consultation to influence and improve services. The work will be ideally suited to someone able to communicate well, through creative use of different media with a range of audiences, with a strong ethos of promoting inclusion and supporting diversity, and a strong team player who is also able to work autonomously.
The successful candidate will possess a Degree in Youth and Community work (or equivalent) and experience of working in Youth Work or Children’s Services. Applications are welcomed from candidates from across Wales and Welsh Language Skills are desirable.
For further information about the post, please contact Sarah Mee, 4Cs National Strategic Commissioning Officer on (01443) 570098
