Job Introduction
About DFS:
It takes a whole lot of passion to be at the centre of what makes a house feel like home — and that’s just what we do at DFS. We’re the leading sofa retail specialist in the UK, helping people find a comfy seat on their great quality sofas since 1969.
About the role:
As a Dispatch Production Operative, you'll play a vital role in the final stage of our manufacturing process, helping ensure every piece of furniture leaves our site in perfect condition and reaches our customers on time. Working as part of a busy dispatch team, you'll be responsible for preparing, checking, handling and loading finished products with care, ensuring they meet our high quality standards before they begin their journey to our customers' homes.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You'll work closely with colleagues across manufacturing and logistics to keep products moving efficiently through the dispatch process, maintaining accuracy, safety and productivity at every stage. Whether you're checking orders, preparing furniture for transport or loading delivery vehicles, your attention to detail and commitment to quality will help deliver the exceptional customer experience that DFS is known for.
If you enjoy physical work, thrive as part of a supportive team and take pride in doing a job well, this is a fantastic opportunity to build a long-term career with one of the UK's leading furniture manufacturers.
Here's what we offer:
Our 4-day afternoon shift gives you three days off every week – that's a long weekend, every weekend. You'll also enjoy a two-week shutdown every July at the start of the summer holidays, a week off at Christmas, and we don't work bank holidays, giving you even more time to relax, recharge and spend with the people who matter the most.
It's a shift pattern designed to help you achieve a better work-life balance giving you more time for you, and the chance to earn more as your skills grow – there's always room for more at DFS.

What you'll be doing:
Initially, your responsibilities will include ensuring that materials and products are available throughout the factory, which will involve significant manual lifting and require stamina. As you become proficient in your role and gain a deeper understanding of the products, you can choose to develop specialised skills such as upholstery or sewing, providing you with excellent opportunities for growth and increased earnings.
No prior experience is necessary—only a desire to succeed and a willingness to learn.
Our Commitment to Inclusion:
We extend a warm welcome to everyone, weaving together a range of voices and perspectives to create a truly inclusive culture. As we strive to build a workplace that better reflects the diverse communities we serve, we encourage applications from under-represented groups.
At DFS Group, we’re not just a place where everyone is welcome – we’re a place where everyone truly belongs.
