JOB DESCRIPTION Activities Co-ordinator
15 Hours per week
Responsible to: Registered Managers, and Director
Purpose of position:
To ensure that all service users within the home have to a wide and diverse range of stimulating activities on a day to day basis. The Activity Co-ordinator will ensure that all activities meet the intellectual, physical, social and recreational needs of all individuals who use the service by delivering vibrant, creative and meaningful activities.
Principal Responsibilities
- Report to the managers and liaise with regards to each service user’s ability and need for the activities planned.
- Plan and record a programme of events, entertainment and activities to include garden parties, barbecues and outings.
- To maintain and keep up to date the activities board and provide a daily visit to each service user to invite to planned activities.
- To provide regular Service User meetings, produce the minutes and circulate once reviewed by managers.
- To assist the Service Users to maintain contact with their family and friends. This will include making phone calls, assisting with letter writing or organising visits.
- To ensure all Service Users within the home have contact with the Activities Co-ordinator and that Service Users with limited abilities are included on, perhaps a more “one-to-one” basis on social and recreational pastimes.
- To develop each Service Users contribution and ability for recreational activities and social interaction and to respect Service Users right to refrain from participating if they do not wish to.
- To compile a brief summery of each Service User – their likes and dislikes, special abilities, social history, fondness for pets etc.
- To acknowledge each Service Users birthday in line with their wishes, providing a birthday card and gift.
Person Specification Essential Criteria
Diploma Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
Good communication skills with the ability to empathise and interact naturally with all individuals who use our service.
