Having built a strong reputation delivering CHC packages of care for adults, we are proud to have secured our contract to extend this expertise into paediatric CHC care — supporting children with complex medical and health needs to live safely and thrive at home.
We are looking for an experienced and compassionate **Paediatric Nurse** to lead the clinical quality of our children's CHC packages of care. This is a pivotal role in a growing part of our business, working from our Kings Norton office and out in the community across South Birmingham.
You will act as the clinical lead for our paediatric care staff, ensuring every child receiving a package of care through Team Locum Care is supported by carers who are competent, confident, and closely supervised in meeting complex health needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and oversee children's CHC packages of care in line with individual care plans and NHS commissioning requirements
- Design and deliver bespoke training to care staff working with children with complex health needs (e.g. tracheostomy care, gastrostomy/PEG feeding, seizure management, ventilation support, medication administration)
- Provide ongoing supervision, mentorship, and competency assessments for care staff in the field
- Conduct spot checks and field-based support visits to ensure quality and safety of care delivery
- Act as the clinical point of contact for families, care staff, and commissioners
- Support onboarding of new paediatric care packages, including care plan reviews and risk assessments
- Ensure compliance with CQC standards, safeguarding requirements, and CHC framework guidance
- Work closely with the registered manager and office team to maintain high standards across all children's packages
Essential Skills
- Registered Children's Nurse (RN Child) with current NMC registration
- Experience working with children with complex health needs, ideally within a community, CHC, or home care setting
- Confident delivering clinical training to non-clinical care staff
- Strong understanding of CHC frameworks and paediatric care planning
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trust with families and support workers alike
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across South Birmingham Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
