About The Role
As a Hair & Beauty Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality vocational education across multiple Nulogic provisions, inspiring learners through engaging, practical and industry-relevant learning experiences.
Working closely with the Vocational Curriculum Lead, you will contribute to the development of schemes of work, learning resources and curriculum improvements while maintaining the highest standards of teaching, learning and assessment.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering outstanding Hair & Beauty lessons, monitoring learner progress, providing meaningful feedback and creating an inclusive learning environment where every learner can succeed.
Whilst your primary line manager will be the Vocational Curriculum Lead, you will work closely with the Head of Provision at each site to ensure the effective day-to-day delivery of vocational education.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching, Curriculum & Learner Progress
- Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated Hair & Beauty lessons that meet the needs, abilities and aspirations of individual learners.
- Create an inclusive, safe and engaging learning environment that reflects Nulogic's core values.
- Develop and continually improve schemes of work, lesson resources and curriculum materials in collaboration with the Vocational Curriculum Lead.
- Assess learner work, monitor progress and provide timely, constructive feedback, ensuring accurate reporting and record keeping.
- Contribute towards learner progress reports, EHCP reviews and other educational documentation relating to learner progress within your subject area.
- Deploy and work effectively with Teaching Assistants and HLTAs to maximise learner engagement, behaviour and educational outcomes.
- Maintain high expectations of learner attendance, behaviour and participation, escalating concerns where appropriate.
Quality Assurance & Professional Practice
- Participate fully in lesson observations, learning walks, work scrutiny and other quality assurance activities.
- Act positively upon feedback received through quality assurance processes, implementing improvements where required.
- Contribute to vocational standardisation activities and collaborative curriculum development.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments within the Hair & Beauty industry to ensure teaching remains current, relevant and aligned with industry standards.
Vocational Environment & Resources
- Maintain a safe, clean and professional salon environment that reflects industry standards.
- Carry out routine equipment checks, reporting faults or replacement requirements promptly.
- Support the Vocational Curriculum Lead in maintaining appropriate resources, equipment and compliance within the Hair & Beauty provision.
- Ensure learners follow safe working practices and adhere to all relevant health and safety procedures throughout practical sessions.
Safeguarding, Compliance & Information Management
- Adhere to all safeguarding responsibilities and maintain proactive awareness of learners' needs and wellbeing.
- Treat all personal, private and sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant organisational policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety, SEND, attendance, behaviour, equality, GDPR and awarding body requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement & Team Contribution
- Build and maintain positive relationships with learners, colleagues, schools, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
- Attend review meetings where appropriate and provide written updates regarding learner progress and achievement.
- Work collaboratively with the Vocational Curriculum Lead, Heads of Provision and wider education team to continually improve the learner experience.
- Participate fully in staff meetings, CPD activities, standardisation meetings and any other professional development opportunities.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the effective running of the vocational provision and wider organisation.

Essential/Desirable Experience
Essential:
1. QTS, QTLS or recognised vocational teaching equivalent.
2. Level 3 Hair & Beauty qualification (or above).
3. Experience planning and delivering high-quality Hair & Beauty education.
4. Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
5. Experience developing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessment materials.
6. Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Desirable:
1. Experience teaching within Alternative Provision, SEND or SEMH settings.
2. IQA qualification.
3. Assessor qualification.
4. Industry experience within the Hair & Beauty sector.
