Job Description: KNITWEAR DESIGNER
We are a global sourcing company with a London design office located in the heart of London's West End and fashion district. Design lead sourcing for major high street retailers globally. Covering multiproduct: clothing, health & beauty, footwear and accessories. The London office is at the forefront of the operation and boasts a strong design/trend and product development team who bring the top fashion to the high street at affordable prices.
We are looking for someone to join our expanding Knitwear team. This is a perfect opportunity for a designer with passion and interest in womenswear fashion and clothing to join an exciting office and work on accounts for our UK high street customers.
Main Responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing Knitwear for a number of high street retailers
- Supporting and working with the knitwear design team on multiple accounts to design commercial, fashion-led Knitwear
- You will identify and translate the must have trends for trend led Knitwear
- Research fashion trends, producing trend boards, catwalks, and CADS
- Ability to translate initial ideas and concepts into commercial designs
- produce detailed design sheets for sampling and Liaise with our factories
- Attend customer meetings and work to set briefs.
- Manage sampling and development of critical path
- Weekly reports looking at the latest trends
- Presenting to buyers
- Travel to shows and on inspirational trips
The ideal candidate should have:
- Must occupy a relevant fashion/Textile design degree
- Previous experience working on Knitwear product – desirable but not essential
- Understand knit construction, stitch techniques and yarns
- Commercially astute you will have a particular passion for trend led knitwear
- Must have a strong commercial eye, and an ability to interpret trends
- Strong taste level
- Computer literate with excellent CAD and illustrator skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment & have a pro-active approach
- Must be a team player with a willingness to take direction and eager to learn
- Great communication skills and an approachable personality
- Strong organisation skills and able to work to deadlines
Salary depends on level of experience.
