Within this challenging role, you will:
- Load and unload Ro/Ro vessels
- Releasing and securing of trailer lashings
- Mooring and unmooring of vessels
- Drive trade vehicles
- General terminal activities
Candidates should be flexible and prepared to work shifts, including every other weekend.
About you:
- Full current and clean driving licence is a must
- Proven experience in driving heavy plant machinery or a Class 1 HGV licence would be an advantageous
- It is important that you have a good work ethic
- It is essential you have a pro-active approach and knowledge of Health and Safety
- You will have good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good IT skills are desirable for use of in-house/ on-board Freight Management Systems
- You must be a self-motivated individual
- Good time-keeping is essential
- Ability to prioritise workload whilst working to tight timescales in accordance with company policies
- You must be able to work within a team.
- A flexible approach to work is necessary as you will be expected to cover when required
- Must be willing to undertake any duties that may arise to contribute to the day-to-day running of the terminal, which can include site maintenance / cleaning
- You must also be willing to work to a flexible timetable to meet the changing patterns of work, which could include working at other Ports within the UK and Europe
