About the role
The Commercial Analyst will support the delivery of high-quality visualisation, dashboards, reporting and insight across Edinburgh Airport’s Retail and Surface Access revenue streams.
Reporting to the Commercial Analytics Manager, you will play a key role in turning complex commercial data into clear, engaging and actionable insight. You will help develop and maintain dashboards, reporting packs and KPI frameworks that support performance management, commercial decision-making, contract discussions and wider business planning.
This is a hands-on analytical role suited to someone who enjoys working with data, building visual stories, improving reporting processes and helping stakeholders understand what is driving performance. You will work closely with Commercial, Finance, IT, Billing and Data teams to ensure reporting is accurate, consistent, visually clear and commercially useful.
About the recruitment process
The recruitment process for this role will be comprised of two stages. There will be a first stage Teams interview, and successful candidates will then be invited to an in person, second interview which will involve a presentation to be confirmed on invite to interview. Depending on the volume of applications, we may introduce an online assessment as a first sifting stage.

What you’ll be doing
Commercial Insight & Decision Support
- Analyse performance across Retail (Shops, Catering, Bureau, Duty Free) and Surface Access (car rental, public transport, taxis etc).
- Monitor commercial trends, revenue drivers, passenger behaviour, conversion, penetration and yield.
- Translate data into clear findings, commentary and recommendations for commercial stakeholders.
- Support regular performance reviews by preparing insight packs, dashboards and supporting analysis.
- Identify risks, opportunities and areas for improved commercial performance.
- Support ad-hoc analysis for contract discussions, bid reviews, business cases and commercial proposals.
- Conduct benchmarking analysis against comparable airports and relevant sectors.
Forecasting, Budgeting & Performance Management
- Support the Commercial Analytics Manager with budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting processes.
- Provide analysis of trends, seasonality and performance drivers to inform revenue projections.
- Support month-end reporting by validating data and ensuring actuals are accurately reflected in reports, dashboards and insight packs.
Reporting, Dashboards & KPIs
- Develop, maintain and improve commercial dashboards, reporting packs and KPI trackers across Retail and Surface Access.
- Create clear, intuitive and visually engaging reports that help stakeholders understand performance quickly.
- Use Power BI and other reporting tools to turn complex datasets into simple, actionable dashboards.
- Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, consistent, timely and aligned with business requirements.
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring reports and reduce manual reporting effort.
- Help standardise reporting layouts, definitions and data sources across Retail and Surface Access.
Data & Systems Collaboration
- Work with Commercial, Finance, Billing, IT and Data teams to ensure data is accurate, complete and fit for purpose.
- Support improvements to datasets within the Commercial Data Warehouse.
- Test and validate data outputs used in dashboards, reports and commercial analysis.
- Document reporting logic, KPI definitions, data sources and dashboard methodologies.
- Identify and implement improvements that increase reporting accuracy, consistency and scalability.
Stakeholder Support & Collaboration
- Build effective working relationships with stakeholders across Commercial, Finance, Billing, IT and Data teams.
- Present analysis clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Respond to stakeholder requests in a timely and professional way.
- Manage competing priorities and deliver analysis to agreed deadlines.
What we’re looking for
Experience
Degree in a highly analytical discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Accounting & Finance).
- Experience in a commercial, performance reporting, business intelligence, data analytics or insight role.
- Experience with Power BI or similar BI/reporting tools
- Confident working with large datasets and identifying trends, issues and opportunities.
- Comfortable working with stakeholders across different teams and levels of seniority.
- Experience in retail, parking, transport or revenue-generating commercial environments would be beneficial but is not essential.
Skills
- Strong data visualisation skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, engaging and actionable reporting.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with good attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivots, lookups and structured modelling.
- Ability to turn data into clear insight, commentary and recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Curious, improvement-focused and willing to challenge existing ways of working.
