At Sea Cadets, we help young people aged 9–12 discover confidence, teamwork, friendship, and adventure through exciting activities both on and off the water.
Birmingham Stirling Sea Cadets are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team as Voluntary Junior Activity Instructors.
What Will You Be Doing?
Every session is different, exciting, and rewarding.
You could be:
- Supporting fun games, activities, and challenges
- Helping run lessons, projects, and events
- Encouraging teamwork, confidence, and communication
- Assisting junior cadets as they learn new skills
- Supporting trips, community activities, and adventurous training
- Creating a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for young people
Whether you choose to wear uniform or volunteer in your own clothes, you’ll become an important part of helping young people grow and succeed.
Your Skills Could Make a Difference
No previous cadet experience is needed — just enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
We welcome volunteers with interests in:
- Sports and coaching
- IT and social media
- Photography and marketing
- First aid and wellbeing
- Catering and cooking
- Outdoor activities and adventure
- Engineering and practical skills
- Navigation and orienteering
- Creative hobbies and teamwork activities
Whatever your experience or interests, there’s a place for you at our unit.

You could help support activities such as:
- Kayaking
- Sailing
- Rowing
- Canoeing
- Windsurfing
- Powerboating
No qualifications? No problem.
We provide:
- Training
- Equipment
- Ongoing support
- Opportunities to gain nationally recognised qualifications through organisations such as the Royal Yachting Association
All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.
What’s the Commitment?
We currently parade on:
Sundays OR Mondays
We ask volunteers to commit to one Sunday per week where possible, or certain Sundays each month depending on availability.
We understand life can be busy and will work with you where we can.
