The Role and Department:
We have an opportunity for a Community Mental Health Crisis Navigator to join the organisation on a 12-month fixed term basis overseeing a pilot phase for one of two Greater Manchester Overnight Community Crisis Hubs.
Our Community Mental Health Crisis Service is an innovative, community-based alternative to hospital admission and emergency department attendance for adults experiencing mental health crisis, emotional distress and psychosocial challenges. Operating as an overnight crisis space, the service provides a safe, welcoming and recovery-focused environment where people can access immediate support, stabilisation, and connection to ongoing care.
As a Peer Support Worker, you will provide compassionate, non-judgemental support to adults experiencing mental health crisis or emotional distress. Drawing upon lived experience, peer support principles and recovery-focused practice, they create a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where individuals can explore their difficulties, identify strengths, develop coping strategies and access appropriate support. The role contributes to crisis prevention, de-escalation and recovery through meaningful relationships built on hope, empathy and shared understanding.
The role works collaboratively with statutory and voluntary sector partners to ensure people receive the right support at the right time, reduce escalation to acute services and are connected to appropriate ongoing services.
What you will bring to TOGS Mind:
As Peer Support Worker, you will bring empathy, authenticity, and a strong recovery-focused approach to your role. Your lived experience of mental health challenges will enable you to build trusting and meaningful relationships with individuals who may be facing similar difficulties. Your role is to provide hope, encouragement, and practical support, helping people to recognise their strengths and take an active role in their recovery journey. Through promoting inclusion, reducing stigma, and empowering individuals to achieve their personal goals, you will contribute to improving wellbeing, confidence, and independence of our service users.
Most importantly, you will share our commitment to recovery, trauma-informed practice and the belief that people can move beyond crisis when supported with compassion, dignity and hope.
