Hours: Full Time – 37.5 hours per week, working on a flexible rota including days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. This role will also include participation in a sleep-in rota where required. Sleep-in shifts are paid separately in line with company policy.

We are looking for an experienced, compassionate and motivated Senior Complex Care & Support Worker to join our growing team. Working closely with the Registered Manager and wider leadership team, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of care, supporting colleagues, promoting best practice and ensuring the people we support receive safe, effective and person-centred support every day.
About the Role
As a Senior Complex Care & Support Worker, you will support the day-to-day delivery of high-quality care whilst acting as a role model for Support Workers across the service.
You will work alongside the Registered Manager and Team Leaders to ensure every person we support receives safe, effective and person-centred care in line with the CQC Fundamental Standards, the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), the Care Act 2014, safeguarding legislation and company policies and procedures.
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You may be required to work across different Supported Living services, support new care packages, complete transition shifts, assist with assessments and respond to operational requirements as needed.

Complex Care
Provide support for individuals with:
- Learning disabilities
- Autism
- Mental health conditions
- Physical disabilities
- Epilepsy
- Diabetes
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) needs
- Behaviours of concern
- PEG feeding (where trained)
- Personal care requirements
Medication
- Safely administer medication in accordance with company policy.
- Complete Medication Administration Records (MAR) accurately.
- Report medication errors immediately.
- Maintain medication competency.
- Support medication audits and best practice.
Leadership
- Lead shifts confidently and professionally.
- Allocate duties and provide direction to the team.
- Mentor, coach and support Support Workers.
- Assist with the induction and development of new employees.
- Complete competency observations.
- Promote high standards of care and professionalism.
- Escalate safeguarding, quality or operational concerns promptly.
- Act as the senior member of staff during shifts when required.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate and timely records including:
- Daily care notes
- Incident and accident reports
- Behaviour monitoring records
- ABC charts
- Communication books
- Risk assessments
- Health appointments
- Food and fluid charts
- Body maps
- Care records
Ensure all documentation is factual, accurate and completed within required timescales.
Safeguarding
- Safeguard adults from abuse, neglect and harm.
- Report safeguarding concerns immediately.
- Maintain professional boundaries.
- Follow safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Promote safe working practices at all times.
Positive Behaviour Support
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies.
- Use proactive approaches to minimise incidents.
- Support individuals through positive de-escalation techniques.
- Record and monitor behaviours accurately.
- Participate in behaviour reviews and multidisciplinary meetings where appropriate.
Health & Safety

Essential Criteria
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working within Adult Social Care.
- Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.
- Experience administering medication.
- Experience leading shifts or supervising staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good written documentation skills.
- IT literate.
- Flexible and reliable with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Access to a vehicle insured for business use (or willingness to obtain business insurance).
- Willingness to travel between BSL Care Services locations across Leicestershire.
- Flexibility to support assessments, transition shifts, emergency operational cover and multiple Supported Living services when required.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one).
Desirable Criteria
- Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (or equivalent).
- Level 4 qualification or working towards one.
- Positive Behaviour Support experience.
- Mental Health experience.
- Epilepsy awareness.
- Care Certificate.
