Senior Carer in of a 8 bed Mental Health LD Residential Care Home
Job Summary
We are a small relatively new residential care home for young adults with Mental Health and Learning Disabilities and we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior carer to join our team in providing exceptional care to our residents. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a background in senior care, including experience in home care settings. The Senior carer will support the overall management of the facility, ensuring that high standards of care are maintained and that care plans and risk assessments are effectively implemented for residents.
Duties
- Assist the Manager in overseeing daily operations of the facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Develop and implement individualised care plans for residents, focusing on their specific needs and preferences.
- Provide leadership and support to staff members, fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional development.
- Monitor medication administration and ensure that all health-related protocols are followed accurately.
- Conduct regular assessments of resident wellbeing and amend care plans as necessary to meet evolving needs.
- Engage with families to provide updates on resident progress and address any concerns they may have regarding care.
- Promote a culture of respect, dignity, and compassion within the facility while maintaining a safe environment for both residents and staff.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a care setting, or home care environment.
- A relevant qualification in health and care (eg. QCF Level 3 Diploma in health and social care)
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate a staff team.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- A compassionate and caring attitude towards residents, families and colleagues.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including CIW
- IT proficiency, including experience with care management systems.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and care plan development.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on empathy and understanding when interacting with residents and their families.
