We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced hospitality professional to join our team as Deputy Manager in The Staple Hill Restaurant in Trago Mills Newton Abbot. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operation of the restaurant. This is a full-time role for 39 hours per week and is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader who is passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences and supporting a high-performing team.
Our restaurant is open seven days a week from 9:00am to 4:00pm, with the Deputy Manager’s working hours typically being 8:00am to 5:00pm. The successful candidate will be flexible and available to work across all seven days, including weekends, as required.
- Pay: £30,000 – £32,000 per year (depending on experience).

Responsibilities:
- Support the General Manager in all aspects of restaurant operations.
- Lead and motivate team members to provide exceptional customer service.
- Manage shifts and oversee daily restaurant activities.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health and safety, and company policies.
- Assist with recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Monitor stock levels, ordering, and waste control.
- Handle customer enquiries and resolve issues professionally.
- Support the delivery of sales targets and profitability objectives.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety
- Conduct regular audits to ensure the shop is functional and presentable
- Act as Manager on Duty in the absence of the General Manager.
Requirements:
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Manager or Supervisor experience within a catering environment is essential.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.
- Due to the tasks involved within this role, you must be 18 or over.
