Job Summary
The Governors of St Vincent’s Catholic Primary School wish to appoint a Play Therapist/Counsellor to work with pupils 5 afternoons per week: 1pm - 3pm, during term time.
The successful applicant should:

· be able to demonstrate excellent, appropriate relationships with parents and carers

St. Vincent’s has employed a school therapist for the past twelve years, so support for pupils’ SEMH is acknowledged as an integral and embedded part of school life: appreciated by children, parents, carers and staff.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and, occasionally, small group therapy sessions to address pupils' needs
- Monitor pupils' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with ethical guidelines
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary, ensuring client safety
- Stay informed about the latest therapeutic techniques and best practices.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with pupils
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Empathy and active listening skills to understand pupils' needs effectively
- Knowledge of various therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, mindfulness)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in documentation
- Familiarity with mental health legislation and ethical guidelines
