Junior Finance Assistant
About Us
Advanced Social Care Services is seeking an organised and motivated Junior Finance Assistant to join our friendly central finance team based at our Head Office in Chorley (PR7).
As part of a growing group with over 25 years of experience delivering services from expert witness to health and social care services, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations across three businesses within the group.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a long-term career in finance. Full training and ongoing support will be provided, offering exposure to a wide range of accounting processes and excellent opportunities for development.
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will become part of a supportive and collaborative team where you can build valuable finance experience within a growing organisation.
The Role
This is a varied and hands-on position providing support across all aspects of the finance function, including sales ledger, purchase ledger, credit control and general finance administration.
The successful candidate will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring transactions are processed efficiently and supporting the wider finance team in meeting reporting deadlines.
We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, has a strong attention to detail and enjoys working both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
· Raising and processing sales invoices across multiple group companies
· Assisting with sales ledger administration and credit control activities
· Inputting and processing purchase invoices
· Supporting supplier payment runs and posting payments
· Completing bank reconciliations
· Ensuring the correct VAT treatment is applied to transactions
· Assisting with the resolution of customer and supplier queries
· Providing general accounting and administrative support to the finance team
· Supporting month-end processes and reporting deadlines
· Maintaining accurate financial records across all businesses within the group
· Assisting with additional finance-related duties as required
Skills & Experience
Previous experience within a finance, accounts or administrative role would be advantageous but is not essential. We welcome applications from individuals looking to begin or further develop a career within finance, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Essential Skills
· Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
· Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively
· Positive, adaptable and self-motivated approach
· Good understanding of office procedures and administrative practices
· Willingness to learn and develop within a finance role
Desirable Skills
· Previous experience within a finance, accounts or bookkeeping environment
· Experience using Sage 50 and/or Xero
· Exposure to purchase ledger, sales ledger or credit control processes
· Studying towards, or an interest in, AAT qualifications
· Ability to work independently and use initiative
