Overview of the Role
WN Shipping is seeking a highly organised and proactive Export Co-ordinator to oversee and execute international air and ocean freight operations from the UK to global destinations. This role is responsible for managing the full end-to-end export cycle, ensuring shipments are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with international trade and customs regulations.
You will work closely with customers, carriers, agents, internal departments and external authorities to deliver a seamless export experience. Maintaining documentation standards and proactively resolving any logistical challenges that arise.
Key Responsibilities
Export Operations
- Manage the complete export process from order receipt through to final delivery. Coordinate air and ocean freight exports, ensuring timely and cost-effective shipment execution. Handle shipment planning, consolidations, routings and scheduling.
Documentation
- Prepare, review, and submit all required export documentation, including:o Commercial invoiceso Packing listso Certificates of origino Air Waybills / Bills of Ladingo Export declarations and customs forms Ensure accuracy and compliance in all paperwork
Compliance & Customs
- Ensure all export activities comply with UK customs procedures, international trade regulations, and export control laws. Work with HMRC systems (e.g., CDS) where required for customs submissions. Keep up to date with system changes.
Logistics & Freight Coordination
- Book freight with relevant parties Track shipments proactively, providing updates to customers and internal teams. Coordinate collections, deliveries, warehousing and loading arrangements.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the main point of contact for customers, carriers, agents, and internal departments. Provide professional, timely communication regarding shipment status, requirements, and issues. Build strong relationships with service providers and partners.
Problem Solving & Issue Resolution
- Identify operational risks or delays and implement corrective actions. Resolve documentation discrepancies, customs queries or carrier-related issues. Escalate concerns where appropriate while maintaining control of the shipment lifecycle.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Experience in export operations (air and/or ocean) within a freight forwarding or logistics environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams. Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple shipments and meet tight deadlines. Proficiency with logistics platforms, freight management systems and Microsoft Office. Understanding of international shipping terminology (Incoterms), customs processes and export documentation.
Desirable
- Knowledge of CDS / CHIEF export procedures. Prior rate negotiations or carrier liaison experience.
Pay: £25,500.00-£35,000.00 per year
