Hinkley Point C | Day & Night Shifts Available | £29.34 per hour + Bonus + Lodge Allowance
Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset
Rate: £29.34 - £32.27 per hour depending on experience + potential bonus up to £2.93 per hour
Night Shift Allowance: +22% uplift
Shifts: 10 days on / 4 days off | 10-hour shifts (Overtime paid after 38 hours per week)
Lodge Allowance: £50.18 per day / £355.67 per week (where applicable)
We are currently recruiting experienced Platers to join the team working on the Hinkley Point C project.
This is an excellent opportunity for time-served Platers with experience in heavy fabrication, structural steelwork, marine, nuclear, defence, or major industrial projects.
We are looking for skilled tradespeople who are comfortable working in controlled environments where safety, quality, and precision are essential.
What you’ll be doing
As a Plater, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing steel structures and components in line with engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Fabricating and installing carbon steel and stainless steel structures
- Reading and working from engineering and CAD drawings
- Carrying out fit-up, alignment, and on-site adjustments
- Working with fabrication tools, lifting equipment, cranes, MEWPs, and heavy plant
- Ensuring work meets quality standards, tolerances, and inspection requirements
- Completing relevant documentation and following site procedures
- Working safely within RAMS, Permit to Work systems, and site controls
What we’re looking for
- NVQ Level 3 (City & Guilds, SVQ) or Scottish Qualifications (SCQF Level 6)
- Time-served Plater / Fabricator background, ideally minimum 5 years’ experience
- CCNSG Safety Passport (or able to renew expired passports)
- Previous experience working within highly regulated environments such as nuclear, defence, power generation, oil & gas, petrochemical, marine, heavy engineering, or major infrastructure
- Ability to fabricate and install stainless steel and carbon steel structures
- Experience with fit-up, alignment, and installation of fabricated components
- Understanding of QA processes, inspection records, tolerances, and quality documentation
