THE STEEL SHOP is a growing structural steel fabrication and installation company working across South Wales and the South West. We deliver a wide range of commercial and domestic structural steel projects and pride ourselves on producing quality workmanship while investing in our people and equipment.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Structural Steel Fabricator to join our workshop team.
The Role
Working from fabrication drawings, you will be responsible for accurately manufacturing structural steelwork ready for welding and installation. You will measure, mark out, cut, drill, assemble and tack structural steel sections, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and to the highest quality standards.
Working as part of our fabrication team, you'll play a key role in producing steelwork that is ready for welding, inspection and delivery to site.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings.
- Measure, mark out and fabricate structural steel sections.
- Operate workshop machinery including gantry cranes, band saws, drills, ironworkers and other fabrication equipment.
- Assemble and tack weld structural steel components ready for final welding.
- Carry out quality checks throughout the fabrication process.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience in structural steel fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude
Desirable
- Experience fabricating structural steelwork.
- Overhead crane experience.
- Counterbalance forklift licence.
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Fabrication & Welding (or equivalent practical experience).
