Here at 42nd Street, we are a values-led charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of young people. We work in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed and inclusive ways, ensuring our services are accessible to young people who experience marginalisation and exclusion.
We are excited to be working with a Peer Digital Consultant and Creator as an independent contractor to support our creative work with young people and develop engaging digital and print content.
Working with our Marketing and Communications and Creative teams, and directly with young people, this role will help create a range of written, graphic, video and website content that shares our creative mental health work and celebrates the voices, ideas and creative work of young people.
The role will also support The Horsfall and our annual The Future is Ours festival, helping to showcase young people's creative work through exhibitions, events and digital content.
This freelance opportunity is funded through a programme designed to support the development of emerging digital creatives, with a particular focus on opportunities for young people aged 18–29.
The Role
The Peer Digital Consultant and Creator will be responsible for:
- Creating written, graphic, video and website content for 42nd Street and The Horsfall
- Supporting the development and promotion of digital and print marketing materials
- Working alongside young people and creative mental health practitioners to share young people's creative work
- Creating digital zines, booklets, newsletters, guides, posters and other creative resources
- Supporting website content and updates
- Supporting, documenting and sharing creative events and opportunities
- Helping to maintain 42nd Street's brand identity and tone of voice
- Contributing ideas for new and creative ways to share our work and engage audiences
- Supporting the evaluation and feedback of creative activities and events
- Liaising with print and media outlets where appropriate
Apply if you can offer:
- Experience designing, creating and sharing content for social media and websites
- Digital and technical skills in creating graphics, video and website content
- Experience using design software such as Adobe and Canva
- Experience with video editing and website Content Management Systems
- Strong communication, organisation and time-management skills
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively
- An understanding of, and empathy for, the experiences of young people accessing support
- A commitment to equality, diversity and creating accessible and welcoming spaces for young people
- An interest in creative practice, mental health and wellbeing, arts and culture
Experience working with charities, young people or in creative and digital environments would be advantageous.
