The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) department is dedicated to ensuring the wellbeing of all employees, contractors, and visitors across every project and site. They develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, risk assessments, and compliance with legal and industry standards. By fostering a strong safety culture and promoting environmental responsibility, the HSE team plays a critical role in protecting people, reducing incidents, and supporting sustainable business practices throughout Alternative Heat.
Role Overview:
The Environmental Officer is responsible for development, implementation, maintenance and expansion of the organisations Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with ISO 14001. The role ensures day-to-day environmental compliance, assists with monitoring and reporting, and helps to drive continual improvement in environmental performance across our operations.
Beyond maintaining existing standards, the candidate will be expected to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental legislation and regulatory requirements across the jurisdictions in which the business operates, maintain and update environmental registers, including aspects and impacts and compliance obligations. Leading by example, the candidate will foster a robust environmental culture within the team and across all projects, inspiring commitment to sustainability and environmental excellence.
As the primary environmental liaison for our facilities, the Environmental Officer will establish strong relationships through regular site visits, providing dedicated support and expert guidance on all environmental matters.
Reporting to the HSE Senior Compliance Manager, the Environmental Officer will work closely with project delivery teams, client representatives, and the wider HSE department to ensure a compliant, and sustainable operating environment within this rapidly growing sector.

We employ a strong team of design engineers, CAD technicians, contracts managers and skilled trades personnel who utilise their vast industry experience to assist in the design, fabrication and delivery of our bespoke MEP solutions, which we supply throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.
