As a Warehouse / Stores Operative, you will play a vital role in maintaining the efficiency of our warehouse, goods in and despatch operations. Reporting directly to the Production and Purchasing Manager, your role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Stores and Production functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
RECEIVING AND INSPECTION
- Receive all deliveries and meticulously inspect goods for quality and accuracy.
- Liaise with suppliers to address discrepancies in deliveries and manage stock-related issues.
RECORD KEEPING
- Maintain detailed and organised records of shortages and spares of items.
- Regularly update inventory management systems for accurate stock tracking.
GOODS HANDLING
- Utilise a forklift for the efficient picking and delivery of goods.
- Organise and deliver goods from the store to the respective departments.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to procedures for the reuse, recycling, and appropriate disposal of materials and waste.
- Identify opportunities to minimise waste and promote environmental sustainability within the stores operations.
- Ensure all packaging materials are sorted and disposed of correctly in designated recycling and waste bins.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support environmentally friendly practices in the supply chain.
PRODUCTION SUPPORT
- Receive, check, and record goods inwards, monitoring and checking stock levels.
- Put away parts and materials in the stores.
- Pick production kits and assist with stock checks.
DESPATCH MANAGEMENT
- Manage the stores part of the despatch process, including picking, packing, and despatching aftermarket and spares orders.
- Crate and pack completed products for despatch.
- Arrange carriers and ensure correct and safe loading of items for despatch.
- Perform occasional deliveries or collections using the company van.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANLINESS
- Keep the stores areas, goods inwards, and goods outwards clean and tidy.
- Monitor and manage waste collections.
- Maintain a tidy and accessible yard for deliveries and collections.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Education to GSCE/NVQ Level 2 or at least 3 years' experience in an inventory or stock control role.
- Valid UK driving license; ideally, hold a valid Forklift Operator's license.
- Computers skills including familiarity with Microsoft applications, particularly Excel preferred
- Accurate numeracy skills and keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication for interaction with staff, carriers, suppliers, and occasional customers.
- Excellent organisational skills for effective planning and prioritisation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to a varied workload and a willingness to work collaboratively in a team.
