Criminal Defence Solicitor – Warrington

Salary: £50,000-£60,000 + Excellent Benefits
The Opportunity
An established and highly regarded law firm is seeking an experienced Criminal Defence Solicitor to join its busy Criminal Defence team in Warrington.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated solicitor to work on a varied caseload of criminal matters while providing exceptional client care. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to represent clients from the police station stage through to Magistrates' Court proceedings, with exposure to Crown Court matters where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of criminal defence matters from instruction through to conclusion.
- Advise and represent clients at police stations, Magistrates' Courts and, where appropriate, Crown Court proceedings.
- Prepare cases, draft legal documents and provide strategic advice to clients.
- Attend client meetings, court hearings and conferences with counsel.
- Liaise with barristers, the CPS, police, expert witnesses and other third parties.
- Ensure compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Code of Conduct and Legal Aid Agency requirements.
- Deliver outstanding client service while maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Keep accurate case records and ensure all files are managed efficiently.
- Contribute to the continued growth and success of the department.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
- Previous experience handling criminal defence matters.
- Police Station Accreditation is highly desirable (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and client care abilities.
- Ability to work independently whilst also contributing effectively within a team.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A proactive, professional and commercially aware approach.
