Job Summary
We are looking for a confident, organised and customer-focused Café Supervisor to join our team at Norfolk Premier Golf.
This is a hands-on supervisory role within our busy café and leisure environment. You will support the day-to-day running of the café, ensuring high standards of customer service, cleanliness, food safety and team performance are maintained throughout each shift.
The successful candidate will lead by example, support and motivate the team, deal confidently with customers, and take responsibility for ensuring the café operates smoothly and efficiently.
This role would suit someone with previous hospitality or supervisory experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation of the café and ensure shifts run efficiently.
- Supervise and support café team members, providing clear direction and maintaining high standards of performance.
- Deliver excellent customer service and ensure customers receive a welcoming and professional experience.
- Prepare and serve food and drinks in line with company standards and food safety requirements.
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness and presentation are maintained throughout the café, kitchen, customer areas and associated facilities.
- Complete opening and closing procedures, including relevant safety and operational checks.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, deliveries, stock rotation and stock control.
- Ensure food is stored, prepared and handled safely, including appropriate temperature checks and record keeping.
- Follow and help maintain company procedures relating to food hygiene, allergens, COSHH, health and safety and safe working practices.
- Ensure cleaning schedules and daily operational checks are completed correctly.
- Handle customer queries, feedback or complaints professionally and escalate issues where appropriate.
- Support the training and development of new and existing team members.
- Assist with cash handling, till operation and end-of-shift procedures where required.
- Help manage busy periods by allocating tasks and ensuring the team remains organised and productive.
- Report maintenance issues, hazards, accidents or equipment faults promptly.
- Work closely with the wider management and operational team to maintain standards across the business.
- Undertake other reasonable duties required to support the successful operation of the café and wider site.
Experience & SkillsEssential
- Previous experience within hospitality, catering, café, restaurant or customer service.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to remain organised and professional during busy periods.
- Confidence supervising and supporting other team members.
- Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, proactive and comfortable taking responsibility during a shift.
- A good understanding of health and safety and food hygiene standards.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role.
- Food Safety / Food Hygiene qualification.
- Experience with stock control, ordering and deliveries.
- Knowledge of allergen management and food safety procedures.
- Experience completing opening and closing procedures.
- Barista or coffee-making experience.
- Experience working within a leisure, golf, hospitality or similar customer-focused environment.
The ideal candidate will be someone who leads from the front, has a positive approach to customer service and can help maintain consistent standards across both the team and the café operation.
