Merton Tuition Centre | Cheam
Merton Tuition Centre is looking for an experienced Maths Tutor to join our growing Cheam team, teaching students from 11+ preparation through to secondary and GCSE level.
This position is suited to an experienced tutor, teacher, teaching professional or graduate with relevant teaching/tutoring experience. It is not suitable for current GCSE, A-level or university students.
The role
You will work with students in our small-group tuition classes.
We have a particularly large number of 11+ students, alongside students requiring general secondary and GCSE Maths support.
Teaching may include:
- 11+ Maths and problem solving
- Numerical reasoning and exam technique
- KS2 Maths
- KS3 Maths
- GCSE Maths
- Entrance examination preparation
- Exam practice and past-paper work
You should have strong Maths subject knowledge and be confident breaking down concepts and explaining them clearly to students of different ages and abilities.
As part of the role, you will also be expected to prepare lessons, mark homework, monitor student progress and provide notes and updates for parents.
Who we're looking for
Previous teaching experience is preferred, although we also welcome applications from experienced tutors and other candidates with relevant educational experience.
You should be:
- Confident teaching Maths up to secondary/GCSE level
- Comfortable working with children and young people
- Patient and able to explain mathematical concepts clearly
- Reliable, professional and well organised
- Confident working within a small-group environment
- Able to travel reliably to Cheam
- Willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check as part of the recruitment process
Experience teaching 11+ Maths or entrance examinations would be particularly useful.
Hours
We are recruiting for weekday evenings and Saturdays.
We can consider both regular weekly availability and tutors with more flexible availability who would like to pick up additional sessions when required.
