Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating large goods vehicles, primarily low loader lorries, to ensure timely and efficient deliveries of BDS plant. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers to utilise their skills in a dynamic environment, contributing to the smooth running of our logistics operations. The position is full-time and involves delivering goods across various locations, adhering to all safety and compliance standards.
Duties
- Safely operate HGV Class 1 vehicles, specifically low loader , in accordance with legal and company regulations
- Conduct pre-journey checks on the vehicle to ensure it is roadworthy and compliant with safety standards
- Load and unload goods using appropriate equipment, ensuring items are secured correctly for transit
- Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules and optimise fuel consumption
- Complete all necessary paperwork accurately, including vehicle logs
- Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with clients and colleagues during deliveries
- Adhere strictly to driving hours regulations and rest periods to ensure safety at all times
- Report any vehicle issues or accidents promptly to management for immediate action
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly as a delivery driver or similar role
- Strong knowledge of Low loader operation and securing loads effectively
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving licence valid for HGV Class 1 vehicles
- Ability to navigate using GPS or traditional maps efficiently across various routes
- Good organisational skills with the ability to plan routes and manage time effectively
- Awareness of health and safety regulations related to commercial driving and load securing
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks and periods of driving
- Professional attitude with good communication skills and customer service orientation
